Blackfoot Pathways: Sculpture in the Wild

Letter from The Executive Director

Dear friends, neighbors, and supporters,

It is with gratitude and excitement that I step into the role of Executive Director for Blackfoot Pathways: Sculpture in the Wild.

This is more than a new chapter for me, it’s a return to a place and a community that I deeply respect. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working in Lincoln on community planning and highway safety initiatives. I’ve seen firsthand the resilience, creativity, and commitment that make this town so special.

The future of Sculpture in the Wild is deeply intertwined with the future of Lincoln itself. Since its founding, this world-class sculpture park has achieved remarkable success welcoming more than 400,000 visitors, introducing over 3,000 children to the arts and nature, and featuring 22 site-specific installations by internationally renowned artists. It is a living example of how rural places can lead with bold vision, creativity, and heart.

I come to this work with over 20 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, conservation, rural development, and communications and with roots that connect me to communities like Lincoln. I grew up in a logging town at the foot of Mt. Hood, Oregon, and carry with me a lifelong commitment to helping rural communities thrive. I believe deeply in honoring the past while actively shaping a future that reflects the hopes and needs of the people who call this place home.

Lincoln is a unique place and so is this sculpture park. As we look ahead, I am committed to ensuring the sustainability of the organization and expanding offerings that benefit the community. Together, we can build on this extraordinary foundation, strengthen our local and global connections, and continue creating experiences that inspire wonder, reflection, and pride in the Upper Blackfoot Valley.

I’m excited to listen, learn, and collaborate with you as we shape our pathway forward.

Warmly,
     Erin Farris-Olsen — Executive Director
